Browser Based MMORPG Games
The most sophisticated type of browsergame surely is the MMORPG Browser Game. Normally, these games offer the best graphics and the best depth of gameplay. Although there are a lot of 2D Adventure games like Dragonfable, for example, the industry has published more advanced MMOs recently, most of them with graphics that can easily compete with games like World of Warcraft. The only real drawback of these MMO browser games is that they are very often not really browser based and you have to install some type of client software to play the game and enter the virtual world. That will repel a lot of casual gamers who seek the quick stress relief in the work breaks or who are generally very reluctant to install some kind of program which might attack their computer with trojans or other viruses.
But once you decide to play a MMO Browser Game you are in for a lot of fun. The cooperative play and the competitive environment is what these games are all about. They tend to be highly addictive like WoW, Warhammer, Aion or other MMOs of the more commercial type. One has to be careful, though, when deciding which of the many free MMOs to try since not all of them are very sophisticated when it comes to quests and other game mechanics. Some of them are merely pure "grinders" which means that you get experience and level up mainly by killing wave after wave of monsters. And sooner or later, when you have been sucked deeply into the game and you have grown very fond of your high level character, the makers of the game will lure you into buying some premium currency to get even more powerful weapons and stuff. So, if you are looking for the ultimate challenge to get to the top of all possible rankings of a game, you could as well go for WoW or some other big MMORPG and pay your monthly fee for it.
